WRITERS GUILD MEMBER NEWS

STREET TALK #3, May 5, 2005

The Les Moonves mobilization was hard at work last night in front of the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. As the American Museum of the Moving Image honored Les Moonves we delivered a little bit more. WGA East members and supporters distributed materials informing attendees that Les Moonves must also be recognized for supporting CBS' unprecedented demands including significant givebacks, removal of many Guild-covered jobs and up to a 21% cut in salaries for Writers Guild-covered CBS news and promotion writers, editors, graphic artists, desk and production assistants, and researchers. Never in the history of our negotiations with CBS have they demanded such extreme and regressive changes. The Award-winning Writers Guild members at CBS deserve honor as well -- but CBS just wants to give them "Les."In recognition of Les Moonves and CBS' anti-union demands in WGA contract negotiations -- all while he accepted $53 million this past year in annual compensation -- we have nominated him for the "Big Media Hall of Shame" Award. SUPPORT THE WRITERS GUILD IN OUR NEGOTIATIONS AND SEND LES MOONVES A MESSAGE BY VOTING FOR HIM IN THE HALL OF SHAME.
